SecureViewIQ system guide

From first sign-in to a reviewed incident report.

This guide explains what every SecureViewIQ workspace feature does, how to use it step by step, what evidence it accepts, and where an analyst must review or approve the result.

Product scope

Evidence-grounded assistance, with people in control.

SecureViewIQ helps a security team collect approved evidence, identify signals, retrieve trusted context, prioritize work, record decisions, and prepare reports. It does not autonomously block traffic, isolate a host, disable an account, patch software, exploit a vulnerability, or close an incident.

Start here

The recommended investigation workflow

Use the same evidence-first sequence whether you begin with an alert, log file, indicator, CVE, or incident description.

  1. 01
    Bring in approved evidence

Paste events, upload a supported file, attach a file in Chat Assistant, or describe the observed incident.

  2. 02
    Analyze and enrich

Run Log Analysis, inspect indicators, review vulnerability context, or query Ready knowledge documents.

  3. 03
    Verify the result

Separate observed facts from generated interpretation. Check source freshness, confidence, citations, and evidence gaps.

  4. 04
    Record the analyst decision

Document disposition, investigation findings, response approval, ownership, and any remaining uncertainty.

  5. 05
    Respond and report

Carry verified findings into Incident Response and generate an analyst-reviewed report for the intended audience.

Workspace overview

Dashboard

Review account-visible risk activity and open the underlying record before acting on a metric.

Use it for

Metrics, recent alerts, mapped techniques, indicators, incidents, assets, activity, and alert detail.

Do not treat it as

A live network sensor or proof that every asset and alert in an external environment has been discovered.

  1. Open Dashboard. Allow the account summary and cards to finish loading.
  2. Choose the time range. Use Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, or Last 30 days where available, then select Refresh.
  3. Review the summary. Use counts and trend cards to identify work that needs inspection.
  4. Open a record. Select an alert or incident and read the Alert Details or linked workspace before drawing a conclusion.
  5. Search when needed. Use the Dashboard search to find known indicators, logs, incidents, or alerts available to the account.

Landing feature · Analyze

Log Analysis

Parse pasted or uploaded events, identify suspicious patterns, score risk, and map relevant MITRE ATT&CK techniques.

  1. Open Log Analysis.
  2. Choose a source type. Use Auto detect unless you know the events are Windows Security, Linux Authentication, Syslog, Firewall, Web Server, JSON, CSV, or Generic Text.
  3. Add evidence. Paste raw events in Log Intake, or choose a TXT, LOG, JSON, JSONL, or CSV file up to 25 MB.
  4. Start analysis. Select Analyze Logs for pasted content or Upload and Analyze Logs for a selected file.
  5. Review the result. Inspect severity, risk score, detected findings, supporting event details, mapped techniques, warnings, and limitations.
  6. Reopen saved work. Use Analysis History to return to a completed run.
  7. Continue or export. For a completed analysis, select Enrich & Review Investigation or Export Report.

Analyst review checklist

  • Confirm timestamps, source type, and parsing warnings.
  • Check that every finding has supporting event evidence.
  • Treat a MITRE mapping as behavior context, not proof of attacker intent.
  • Investigate false-positive explanations before escalating.
Completed log analysis

Enrich & Review Investigation

Turn a completed analysis into a review workspace with extracted observables, enrichment, correlation, a timeline, and a draft report.

  1. Complete a Log Analysis and select it from Analysis History.
  2. Select Enrich & Review Investigation.
  3. Queue the investigation if it has not started automatically. Background processing may take time; use Refresh to load the latest state.
  4. Review extracted observables, supported enrichment, correlated findings, and the investigation timeline.
  5. Open the draft report and check each conclusion against the linked evidence.
  6. Approve, revise, or reject proposed items through the available review controls. Retry a failed job only after checking the failure reason.
Automation setting: the optional risk threshold decides when enrichment is queued after Log Analysis. It does not approve containment, remediation, or other production action.
Landing feature · Assist

Chat Assistant / Analyst Copilot

Ask technical security questions, analyze an attached file, and continue source-aware investigation threads.

  1. Open Chat Assistant and select New chat, or reopen a saved conversation.
  2. Provide context. State the evidence, environment, question, and desired output. Do not include passwords, API keys, access tokens, or unnecessary sensitive production data.
  3. Attach a file if needed. Use the paperclip, confirm the selected filename, and add an analysis focus in the message.
  4. Select Send. Wait for the message and any file triage to complete.
  5. Verify the answer. Check cited or quoted evidence, assumptions, uncertainty, and recommended next checks.
  6. Manage the thread. Rename it for the investigation, search saved conversations, or delete it when no longer needed.
Best prompt pattern: “Using only the attached evidence, list observed facts, possible explanations, missing evidence, and the safest next checks.”
Landing feature · Ground

Trusted Knowledge / Knowledge Base

Index approved internal or reference documents and answer questions from Ready documents in the selected scope.

Add a document

  1. In File Upload, choose RAG Knowledge, select a supported file, and upload it.
  2. Open Knowledge Base and select Add Uploaded Document.
  3. Select the previously uploaded file, add a clear title, choose a collection, and optionally add a description.
  4. Select Add to Knowledge Base. Wait while the document moves through extraction, preparation, chunking, and indexing.
  5. Use the document only after its status is Ready. Open details if processing fails.

Ask a grounded question

  1. Open the Ask Knowledge tab.
  2. Enter one specific question.
  3. Select the document scope and, where useful, a collection.
  4. Select Ask Question.
  5. Review the answer together with its source context. If the available sources do not support a claim, treat it as unresolved.
  6. Use Query History to reopen prior account queries or clear history when appropriate.
PDF requirement: a PDF must contain extractable text. Image-only or scanned PDFs without readable text may fail; use an OCR-processed or text-based PDF.
Landing feature · Enrich

Threat Intelligence

Validate indicators, collect available provider context, correlate internal sightings, and record the analyst disposition.

Investigate one indicator

  1. Open Threat Intelligence → Investigate.
  2. Leave the type on Auto Detect or select the known type, such as IP, domain, URL, email, hash, CVE, filename, process, registry key, or ASN.
  3. Enter the exact indicator and select Investigate.
  4. Review normalization, provider evidence, source freshness, internal sightings, score, confidence, limitations, and proposed next actions.
  5. Record a disposition and analyst notes only after comparing the external context with internal evidence.

Additional workspaces

Bulk Analysis

Paste up to 100 indicators, one per line, then analyze and review each normalized result.

Watchlists

Create a named list for indicators that require continued tracking; review it periodically.

Library and History

Search saved context or reopen a previous lookup from its latest stored intelligence state.

Provider availability: external enrichment depends on providers configured for the deployment. “No provider result” is not the same as “benign.”
Landing feature · Prioritize

Vulnerability Intelligence

Prioritize known CVEs using authoritative and contextual data, including NVD, CISA KEV, FIRST EPSS, asset exposure, and business impact where available.

  1. Open Vulnerability Intelligence. Check Source health before relying on a recently updated record.
  2. Search or filter. Enter a CVE, vendor, product, or description; optionally filter by severity or Known exploited and choose a sort order.
  3. Review the queue. Compare CVSS, EPSS and percentile, exploit signal, contextual risk, and remediation status.
  4. Open a record. Review Overview, Affected Products, Asset Context, AI Analysis, and Remediation.
  5. Confirm applicability. Verify the affected product and version against your approved asset inventory or other authoritative internal evidence.
  6. Prioritize remediation. Use exploitation evidence, exposure, criticality, and compensating controls—not severity alone.
  7. Track the decision. Document owner, target date, exception, or mitigation through the available workflow.

Current boundary

Vulnerability Intelligence does not scan a network, server, or website; discover installed software; execute exploits; or apply patches automatically. It prioritizes records and context supplied by configured sources and the application.

Landing feature · Respond

Incident Response

Use a five-step, evidence-driven workflow from initial description through reviewed outcome and report.

  1. 1
    Describe Incident

Enter a description and detection time. Add a title, affected asset, affected account, input source, and supported evidence file when available. Select Analyze Incident.

  2. 2
    Incident Summary

Review classification, severity, confidence, observed facts, hypotheses, and evidence gaps. Do not confirm compromise from an unsupported hypothesis.

  3. 3
    What to Check Next

Work through prioritized evidence checks. Record findings as supported, unsupported, or unresolved based on what was actually observed.

  4. 4
    Response Actions

Review proposed containment, eradication, and recovery actions. Approve disruptive actions only through your organization’s authorized process.

  5. 5
    Outcome & Report

Validate scope, containment, recovery, and residual risk. Generate the report, review it, then copy or download the PDF.

Reopen saved incidents

  1. Select View Incident History.
  2. Search by incident text or filter by status and severity.
  3. Open the intended incident and confirm its incident number and title before editing or exporting.
Privacy: incident history, detail, reports, and PDF downloads are scoped to the authenticated account and authorized role. Never reuse a prior user’s open browser session.
Landing feature · Report

Clear reporting

Convert verified investigation work into a report while keeping the analyst responsible for accuracy and release.

Log Analysis report

  1. Open a completed analysis.
  2. Review the evidence, severity, findings, and mappings.
  3. Select Export Report.
  4. Review the exported content before distribution.

Supported inputs and limits

Choose the workflow before choosing the file. An extension supported in one feature is not automatically accepted in another.

WorkflowSupported inputImportant limit or behavior
Log AnalysisPasted events; TXT, LOG, JSON, JSONL, CSV25 MB per uploaded file; PDF is not a log-analysis input.
RAG KnowledgeTXT, LOG, JSON, JSONL, CSV, text-based PDF25 MB; the document must reach Ready before it can ground answers.
Incident evidencePDF and supported evidence text/data files available in the upload control25 MB; attach only evidence authorized for that incident.
Chat attachmentPDF and supported security, text, document, email, markup, configuration, and source-code files shown by the file picker25 MB; analysis uses readable extracted text and may truncate very large extracted content.
Threat IntelligenceSingle indicator or up to 100 newline-separated indicatorsProvider coverage depends on deployment configuration and indicator type.
Profile photoPNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, WebP2 MB maximum.

Files are validated by extension, detected content type, size, and content structure where applicable. Renaming an unsupported file does not make it supported.

Safety and accuracy

Operational boundaries

SecureViewIQ can
  • Analyze evidence provided to the workspace.
  • Surface patterns, mappings, risk signals, and missing context.
  • Retrieve from Ready knowledge documents.
  • Enrich supported indicators through configured sources.
  • Prioritize vulnerability and incident work.
  • Prepare draft and exportable reports for review.
SecureViewIQ does not
  • Continuously scan a network, website, server, endpoint, or cloud account.
  • Automatically discover all assets or installed software.
  • Prove compromise from a score, model response, or intelligence hit alone.
  • Run exploit code or validate a CVE by attacking a system.
  • Automatically block, isolate, disable, patch, remediate, or close.
  • Replace legal, privacy, executive, or incident-command authority.
Human approval and decision rule: when source evidence, AI interpretation, and analyst judgment disagree, pause the action, preserve the evidence, and escalate through the organization’s approved process.
Help

Common troubleshooting steps

A page or result does not appear after sign-in

Confirm the profile pill shows the expected account, select the feature again, then refresh once. If the issue remains, record the time, feature, and visible error before contacting support.

A PDF cannot be indexed

Confirm it is under 25 MB and contains selectable, extractable text. Image-only scans generally require OCR before upload. Upload it with the RAG Knowledge purpose, then add it from Knowledge Base.

A knowledge answer has no useful support

Confirm the intended document is Ready and included in the selected scope. Ask a narrower question. Do not use an unsupported answer as an incident finding.

Threat enrichment is empty or unavailable

Check indicator format, type, provider freshness, and source status. Deployment provider configuration may limit coverage. No result does not establish that an indicator is safe.

A background investigation failed

Open the job status, capture the failure message, and retry only if the issue appears transient. Keep the completed Log Analysis as the source record.

Saved data looks like it belongs to another account

Stop working, verify the signed-in identity, log out, and sign back in. Do not edit, export, or distribute the unexpected record. Report the event to an administrator or support.
